Polizzi Collection appoints Theresa Collins as general manager of the Star
Theresa Collins has been named general manager of the Star, Alfriston, in East Sussex, a Polizzi Collection property.
She was most recently general manager at Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire, which she joined in March last year.
Prior to that, she was deputy general manager at Cliveden House in Berkshire and hotel manager at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London’s Embankment.
The Polizzi Collection was founded by hotelier Olga Polizzi, deputy chairman and director of design at Rocco Forte Hotels, which she helped her brother Sir Rocco Forte to create.
Its portfolio includes the Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes, Cornwall; Hotel Endsleigh, near Tavistock, Devon; and the Star in Alfriston, East Sussex, which the Collection acquired in October 2019.
The acquisition also marked the first time that Polizzi partnered with her daughter Alex, Channel 5’s Hotel Inspector.
At one time, the Star was owned by Polizzi’s father Lord Charles Forte under the Forte Group’s Heritage Collection.
Alex Polizzi, director of the Polizzi Collection, said: “We are pleased to welcome Theresa to the Star, joining us as general manager. We are sure she will be a great addition to the team.
Collins added: “After a successful time at Glenapp Castle, I am excited about this new challenge. I have long admired the Polizzi family and their three hotels in the South of England. I look forward to joining the team at the Star and supporting Olga and Alex Polizzi in the running of this beautiful property in the South Downs National Park.”
The 37-room Grade II-listed hotel, which partly dates to the 13th century, closed for a major renovation in 2020 and reopened in June 2021.
